Work With Girls

As a Unit Leader you will be a part of a passionate team who: provide a fun, challenging and exciting programme for girls. Facilitate opportunities for girls to contribute and ensure that there is a strong girl voice in the unit. You will receive ongoing training and mentoring opportunities.

Time commitment

  • A regular commitment to attend and help run a weekly unit meeting, for 1-2 hours, generally during term time.
  • Extra time to plan the programme with girls and leaders including camps, excursions and attend trainings. On average 1 hour per week across the term.

As an Explore Guiding volunteer you will

As an Explore Leader you will support an online guiding programme and communicate with the girls to ensure they are having fun and encourage the completion of on-line activities. Along with your girls, attend local Guiding events to enhance the Guiding experience. You will receive ongoing training and mentoring opportunities.

Time commitment

  • A regular commitment to communicate with the girls each week for an estimated 1-2 hours per week.
  • The role is flexible and works around your existing schedule.

As an Aotearoa volunteer you will

As a Aotearoa Leader you will deliver a correspondence Guiding programme and communicate with the girls aged 9 ½ – 17 to ensure they are having fun and support their badge progression. Encourage girls to join local events to enhance their Guiding experience. You will receive ongoing training and mentoring opportunities.

Time commitment

  • A regular commitment to communicate with the Aotearoa girls each week for an estimated 1-2 hours per week.
  • The role is flexible and works around your existing schedule.

Work With Adults 

As a Local Co-ordinator you will work with a team of local units to provide a safe team environment, leadership, direction and pastoral support to the local team and local Leaders. You will receive ongoing training and support as well as gain transferrable skills that are respected by employers.

Time commitment

  • A regular commitment of between 3-4 hours per week, depending on the workload.
  • The role is flexible and works around your existing schedule but there are some events and meetings that you will have to attend.

As a Regional Training Co-ordinator you will work with the Regional and Area Training teams to co-ordinate training and development opportunities offered in the Region. You will receive ongoing training and support as well as gain transferrable skills that are respected by employers.

Time commitment

  • A regular commitment of between 3-4 hours per week, depending on the workload.
  • The role is flexible and works around your existing schedule but there are some events and meetings that you will have to attend.

As a Mentor Co-ordinator you will work with all volunteers within the area requiring a mentor and match them with a suitable person to assist with their development.  You will receive ongoing training and support as well as gain transferrable skills that are respected by employers.

  • The role is flexible and works around your existing schedule but there are some events and meetings that you will have to attend.

GirlGuidingNZ - vacancies

 

Flexible Volunteering 

As a Facility Co-ordinator you will: manage enquiries and bookings for Guiding properties, use your handy home-maintenance skills to keep the sites clean and tidy, and assist with keeping our buildings safe and well maintained.

Time commitment

  • This role can vary according to the site and will be flexible to work around your existing schedule.

As a Flexible Volunteer Team Member, you may not have any previous involvement in GirlGuiding NZ but have specific skills to offer, or you may be previous Unit Leader who has had or are wanting time out from a regular commitment. Flexible Volunteer Team Members support local units, local and regional events, area activities or one-off events in a wide variety of ways.
