GirlGuiding NZ New Community Programme to Double its Capacity

GirlGuiding NZ’s Community Programme Team will double in size to roll out its community programmes in both Christchurch and Auckland in 2019.

The success of the Auckland programme in 2018 has secured the creation of a Christchurch programme to offer the highly engaging events in the Garden city.

The Community Programme offers one-off events that appeal to girls of various ages. The highly successful Edible Science I & II were STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) themed events for girls aged 7-10 years. While Kick Start Her! partnered with organisations like ASB and Global CV Solutions to prepare 14-17 year old girls for their adulting journey with workshops on leadership & resilience, financial literacy and career development.

“We’re so excited to be making these events available to more Kiwi girls. They are really easy for girls to access as they are usually held on weekends or school holidays, so we are able to cater for girls who for various reasons may not be able to be part of a regular unit or who want to do additional activities of interest”, says GirlGuiding NZ’s Community Programme Facilitator, Ashlyn Baines.

“The events are all designed to build self-confidence in an adventurous and supportive environment. We can’t wait to kick off the programme in 2019, we’ve got some awesome ideas that Christchurch girls are going to love”, says GirlGuiding NZ’s Events and Marketing Coordinator, Angel Fulljames.

Girls can expect events featuring STEM, outdoor adventures, skating, zorbing and more.
