Empowering Change: Updates to OGM

We’re excited to share some recent changes to Online Guide Manager (OGM) that reflect our commitment to inclusivity, supporting our funding initiatives, and ensuring the safety and well-being of our members.

1. Inclusivity Matters!
We’ve tweaked the Gender field in all members’ profiles to make it more inclusive and in line with the options used by Stats NZ. It’s our way of ensuring that every member, regardless of gender identity, feels seen and valued within our GirlGuiding community.

2. Supporting Our Initiatives and Understanding Member Needs
Understanding our membership’s diverse needs is crucial, so we’ve updated the Personal Information fields in OGM. These changes align with the options provided by Stats NZ, which invests considerable resources in developing these standards. The information collected will be treated with the utmost sensitivity. It will only be accessible to police-vetted volunteers and staff with the necessary permissions.

The subtitles and additional information on the fields are only visible if you are viewing your own details or if a caregiver is viewing their child’s details. You won’t see these details from a Unit perspective, only the information added to the fields.

3. Retaining Data for Child Protection
In the interest of child protection, we have removed the option to delete personal data when removing someone from a unit. This decision ensures that we can continue prioritising all our members’ safety and well-being. If you have any questions or concerns about the information we retain and how it’s used, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

Please encourage parents and whanau to ensure this information is accurate.
