The following email was sent to all members
Kia ora koutou,
We are all shocked and saddened at the destruction caused by Cyclone Gabrielle. Our thoughts are particularly with those in areas who were severely impacted by the storm, many of who now face a long and challenging clean up.
In an effort to support all of our members in these difficult times, we have two initiatives to share:
1 – All invoices for term fees will be delayed by one month, and will now go out to all members on March 23rd
2 – An Emergency Relief Fund has been created to support members in areas affected by the cyclone
Please note, our finance systems do not allow us to delay invoicing for specific areas, so this will be the invoice date for all Units.
You will find more information on how you can donate to the Emergency Relief Fund below.
Ngā mihi,
GirlGuiding NZ
Emergency Relief Fund
Supporting our Guiding sisters
It is at times like this that Guiding rallies together and GirlGuiding NZ is privileged to be able to collect donations to support our Guiding sisters in these times of need. Due to floods, some girls may have lost everything (examples are uniforms, programme books, sashes, badges and even sleeping bags). Any donations received will be specifically tagged to the Emergency Relief Fund and once needs are assessed the list may grow, so your donation will not just be limited to these items. Funds will be set aside to help with anything on a case-by-case basis.
Please, if you are able, donate today to support our Guiding sisters in areas that have been badly affected.
There are two ways in which you can do so.
If you donate online, any donations over $5 will be automatically issued with a tax donation receipt.

Guiding is about our communities and supporting our members. Our programmes help members build resilience – which has been called upon once again. But knowing that a much bigger community is here to help and support them as they go through these difficult times makes a huge difference.
Meanwhile, we send our thoughts and best wishes to our Guiding sisters, family, whanau and anyone else in the cyclone-affected areas.
Ngā mihi nui and kia kaha,
Bobbi Oliver
