GirlGuiding NZ Working Groups 2023 – Apply today!

 

As discussed in the September National Whole Team meetings the GirlGuiding NZ Board invite all adult volunteers to consider applying to be a member of a Working Group to assist GirlGuiding NZ to progress our thinking in several important areas of focus for the Association.

 

GirlGuiding NZ Working Group 2023 Terms of Reference

Each Working Group will be made up of 6-10 people. Each Working Group will include at least one member of the GirlGuiding NZ Board, at least one GirlGuiding NZ staff member and at least three GirlGuiding NZ adult volunteers.

For this role, the commitment will run from October 2023 to January 2024.

It will include attendance at a minimum of three online meetings and a commitment to research and report back to the Working Group on topics relevant to the area of focus allocated to the Working Group.

Each Working Group will produce an overview paper for the GirlGuiding NZ Board on the area of focus now and what needs to be considered by GirlGuiding NZ as we move into the future.

Each Working Group will make recommendations for how GirlGuiding NZ can progress the area of focus over the next 1 year, 2 years and 5 years. These recommendations will inform planning to deliver on the GirlGuiding NZ Strategic Plan 2023-2027.

 

We are looking for people who:

  • Are ready and willing to share their knowledge and experience related to an area of focus.
  • Enjoy working in a diverse team to meet deadlines.
  • Have reliable access to the internet and the ability to work with others online.
  • Demonstrate good leadership and organisational skills and can clearly communicate

actions, ideas & values.

Your email should include a statement, of no more than 300 words, saying why you have chosen to apply for a Working Group on the specific area of focus you have chosen and why you are the right fit for your chosen Working Group.

If you are interested in more than one area of focus, please provide a 300 word statement for each area of focus.

In addition, please provide a short CV detailing your GirlGuiding NZ, personal and professional experiences, skills and knowledge.

 

2023 Working Group areas of focus:

Diversity and Inclusion Working Group

  • To make recommendations on next steps needed for GirlGuiding NZ in relation to the areas of engaging and building relationships with diverse communities including but not limited to Māori, the neurodiverse, disabled people and the Rainbow community
  • Consider what GirlGuiding NZ has in place now and what we will need in the future
  • Consider next steps for GirlGuiding NZ in relation to our Te Tiriti obligations, relationships with tangata whenua and the historical disablement of Māori in New Zealand
  • Consider the need for relationships, co-design, collaborations and partnerships when engaging diverse communities
  • Review a draft diversity, equity and inclusion policy
  • Consider the need for further governance work, position statements, policies and support structures

 

Sustainability and Climate Risk Working Group

  • To make recommendations on next steps needed for GirlGuiding NZ in relation to sustainability and addressing climate risk
  • Consider how do we do what we do, what are our organisations interactions with the natural world (environmental), interactions with the human world (social) and the structures, processes and policies (governance) that inform our long term sustainability and integrity
  • Consider the non-financial performance indicators that can be used to better understand the material risks and opportunities within the organisation in each of the categories: environmental, social and governance
  • Consider the impacts of climate change on the organisation today, and what climate related risk we face the future
  • Recommend what could be included in a sustainability strategy and what is needed for the organisation to be resilient

 

Technological Change Working Group

  • To make recommendations on next steps needed for GirlGuiding NZ in relation to cyber risk, cyber security, AI and analytics and our future digital reality
  • Consider the technology landscape and rapid developments in this area
  • Consider what GirlGuiding NZ has now and what we will need in the future
  • Consider what is required to upskill and engage staff, volunteers and members
  • Consider the safeguarding of sensitive information, data security, privacy protection and ethical implications
  • Consider cyber security, risk and reputation and what incident management processes are needed for a data breech
  • Recommend what is required in terms of organisational positions, policies and support structures

 

 

Leadership Working Group

  • To make recommendations on next steps needed for GirlGuiding NZ in relation to organisational leadership internally and externally
  • Consider the GirlGuiding NZ position on leadership, what is leadership, are we considered a leadership organisation, what do we do now and what could we do in the future to be seen as a leader and to be leading
  • Consider succession planning and development within Governance and Operations internally
  • Consider the leadership role of the National organisation externally at local, national and global levels

 

Health and Wellbeing Working Group

  • To make recommendations on next steps needed for GirlGuiding NZ in relation to health and wellbeing
  • Consider the landscape of health and wellbeing in New Zealand now and what is considered to be the concerns for people in the future; what impacts do you think this will have on GirlGuiding NZ and what risks need to be considered?
  • Consider the GirlGuiding NZ position on Health and Wellbeing
  • Consider the GirlGuiding NZ position on Mental Health
  • Recommend what is required in terms of organisational positions, policies and support structures

 

Policies Working Group

  • To make recommendations on next steps needed for GirlGuiding NZ in relation to Policies
  • Inventory current policies
  • Consider what type of policies GirlGuiding NZ requires
  • Consider how policies in GirlGuiding NZ can be accessible, owned, and kept up to date
  • Consider what type of repository would suit the needs of GirlGuiding NZ
  • Recommend what is required and the timeframes for addressing deficits in our policy framework
