Update 28th April 2023

Welcome back everyone to Term Two. The school holidays might mean a break from termly meetings, but there is still a lot going on as we plan for the term ahead, fit in a camp or extra day trip or two and – for many regions and local groups – it is a good time to come together. We are also in full swing with audit and preparations for Forum.

ANZAC Commemorations – out in force

ANZAC day is a special day for us, as we participate in commemorations nationally. It was wonderful to see this being picked up in media across the country.

Discoveries

Mirjam was lucky enough to attend the Abel Tasman Discovery that ran in the second week.  This involved 16 Rangers and four leaders, who came together from all over NZ. They had a mixed bag of weather but were able find sunshine (albeit sometimes metaphorical) in every day.

Staffing Update

The final staff structure has been confirmed and this will come into play on the 16 May. We are now looking to finalise how this works in with our national volunteer roles. We will share this with other important things like who to contact etc on the 15th .

We begin the recruitment to fill any vacancies from next week. Have you considered joining our staff team? There are a variety of roles coming up, and for all of them understanding how volunteer organisations work is critical. All of us have insight into this first hand. Roles will be advertised via Leaders Hub, Seek and on our FaceBook pages.

Did you know we are growing?

Last term we saw an increase of 8% across the board in our girl numbers. This is compared to the same period as last year. This is encouraging news.  Well done!

Kind regards

Mirjam Oord (Deputy Board Chair) and Angela Reeve (Acting Chief Executive)
