Matariki Badge

Based on the huge amount of feedback we received last year, the Matariki badge is being made a permanent badge! For 2024 we are updating the number of activities required to complete the existing badge so it can be used towards the Progression Badges, and in Term 2 2025 we will launch a new permanent Matariki badge.

For 2024:

  • Pippins need to complete four activities, each from a different section, and it is counted as a Whānui badge.
  • Brownies need to complete six activities, each from a different section, and it is counted as a Whānui badge.
  • Guides need to complete six activities, each from a different section, and it is an Exploring Our Communities Unit badge.
  • Rangers need to complete eight activities, each from a different section, and it is a Te Papa Interest Certificate.

A new version of the badge has been loaded into OGM to use for the above logic.

The badge resource can be found here: National Resources > OGM Resources > Programme Resources > Resources for all sections > Matariki.

Note: We are using up the remaining badges we have, then the current design will be resized to be suitable to go on a sash.
