Loss of a Guiding member – Isla Roos

It is with great sadness that Girl Guiding New Zealand offers our sympathies and condolences to her parents Linda and Jo, to Papawai Rangers, the girls and leaders of Morrinsville Guiding and Network Connect of Te Puku o Te Ika for the passing of Isla Roos – tragically killed in a car accident on 26th March aged 18.

Isla, along with her great friends Libby and Iona, were known in Papawai Rangers as the ‘3 Musketeers’ who achieved their Queens Guide Award at the same time in 2021 and were planning to attend the Wellington Vice-Regal Queens Guide reception together. Isla’s parents will now be attending in her place.

Isla had a kind heart, was a passionate advocate and a lovely young woman who loved Guiding and found many of her best moments there.
A yellow-themed celebration of her life was held last weekend with a number of leaders and past and present Rangers attending.
