Guess who’s back? 🍪

By now it is not a secret anymore. Our beloved Original Girl Guide Biscuits are back! You can find them in your local Countdown, SuperValue or FreshChoice for a limited time and every packet sold sends $1 to GirlGuiding NZ! 

As you know we decided to stop selling biscuits through our members last year so that we could focus on our core purpose and activities. That decision has freed up hours of volunteer time, which has enabled us to provide many more opportunities to girls and young women. Knowing how disappointed people were at them being withdrawn, we think it is wonderful that Griffin’s and Countdown have been able to find a way to make them available to the New Zealand public again. 

In the words of our Chief Executive, Susan Coleman, “We’re very excited that the Griffin’s Food Company and Countdown have been able to bring back Guide biscuits in a way that maximises benefit for our girl members. Girls can focus on receiving amazing experiences that develop their confidence and skills, with the added advantage that funds raised from the biscuit sales will support our programme development and delivery. It’s a win-win situation.”  

For over 60 years, Griffin’s has been baking our crowd-favourite biscuits. Dan Gilbert, Griffin’s Managing Director, says “Griffin’s has been partnering with GirlGuiding NZ for more than 60 years and we’re delighted to help keep this iconic tradition alive”. We are super-thrilled about the return of the Original ‘Bikkies’ and couldn’t let these few weeks go by without a trip down memory-lane, remembering how selling biscuits has evolved over the years and how they will continue to empower girls and enable us to grow as an organisation.
