Te Wiki o te Reo Māori is almost here, and GirlGuiding New Zealand is excited to join in the celebrations. This year, the week runs from 14 to 20 September and the theme, Tāone Reo Māori, encourages us to bring te reo into the places and spaces where we live, work, learn and connect.
Throughout the week on our social pages, we’ll be sharing simple and practical ways for our GirlGuiding whānau to use more te reo Māori – whether it’s learning a new kupu (word), trying out a new rerenga kōrero (phrase), or catching up on your kīwaha (idioms). Incorporating te reo during your unit activities is a positive way to acknowledge the GirlGuiding NZ commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and giving te reo a go in your everyday conversations can be a lot of fun!
Remember, every kupu counts and everyone can take part, no matter where you are on your Māori language journey.
