Congratulations to Vicki Frewin, whose nomination to the GGNZ Board was ratified by National Forum at the weekend. Vicki will be serving a three-year term.
Vicki began her journey with GirlGuiding as a Brownie and Guide in Taranaki. She then rejoined as an adult to lead a Brownie unit and become a District Coordinator. She later moved back to Taranaki and has been a Pippin leader, but is currently a Brownie and Guide Leader. For the past three years she has been the Regional Hub Coordinator of Te Tai Hauāuru. She recently took up a training pathway to become an assistant Trainer. She has organised regional camps, several Discoveries in Taranaki and other leader and girl events.
Vicki has a background in law, IT, FMCG and manufacturing, managing large budgets, health and safety, strategic planning and setting sales targets. She managed production teams and clients with both internal and external facing roles. In 2017 she then retrained as a primary school teacher and is now teaching at a school with a bilingual unit.
Vicki brings experience in te ao Māori and is excited to increase the diversity of our organisation across our communities and committed to embedding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi into GirlGuiding. She also would like to ensure we meet the changing needs of our tamariki and rangatahi in our increasingly complex world. With her education experience she sees GirlGuiding as essential to our girls providing unique experiences and life skills which are not available elsewhere.
Vicki believes she is able to use her extensive on the ground experience to help deliver the strategies required to take GirlGuiding into the future and ensuring the girls of Aotearoa thrive under our watch.
Congratulations Vicki – we look forward to working with you!
