GirlGuiding New Zealand encourages girls and leaders to make a personal and positive commitment to change the world around them for the better. It is about standing up for an issue you believe in and to trying to change lives to build a better world.

Advocacy has been an integral part of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting since the beginning, when in 1909 a group of girls spoke out at a Boy Scout rally to demand a movement for girls. This first advocacy activity laid the foundation for decades of advocacy actions by girls and young women all over the world.

We provide opportunities for girls and volunteers to speak out about issues that are relevant to and affect girls and young women.

Our Ranger Advocacy Panel represents and promotes the views of girls from both within and outside the organisation, letting New Zealanders know what girls are passionate about and want to change.
