Join the GirlGuiding New Zealand Board – Co-Opted Member Opportunities
The GirlGuiding New Zealand Board is looking to recruit up to three co-opted Board Members, and we need your help to find the right people!
The Board acknowledges that if it is to be a champion of gender diversity in New Zealand then the Board should also be diverse. We welcome applications from people with varied backgrounds, skills, and perspectives (gender, ethnicity, age, religion, disability, experience) to improve decision-making, innovation, and relevance to young people today.
Co-opted positions can be filled by interested people who have the skills and experience to complement the Board members elected by the National Forum from the GirlGuiding New Zealand membership.
We are seeking to co-opt people who are passionate about seeing rangatahi achieve and who are keen to see them take the lead in decision making. The ideal candidates will have diverse experience and be able to provide strategic direction in a board context. It is important that applicants can work in a team environment.

What is required from you?
The commitment required is four board meetings and one annual general meeting per year. This includes up to two in-person one day weekend meetings with other board meetings (half day) being via video conference often during the week in the late afternoon or on a weekend. Informal meetings (1 hour online) are held monthly between board meetings. Board members each have portfolios including appointment to one Board sub-committee, and Board working groups as required. Please note that that meeting configuration is confirmed annually.
Geographic considerations
No requirement to reside in a particular geographic area of Aotearoa, however stable internet access is essential.
Term
Up to three years, renewable for a further term of up to three years.
Remuneration
Unpaid. Reasonable travel expenses covered.

GirlGuiding New Zealand is looking for a dedicated volunteer Alumnae Adviser to join our team in a national volunteer role.
About the Role
As Alumnae Adviser, you’ll support the General Manager – Funding and Brand to grow and strengthen GirlGuiding New Zealand’s Alumnae Programme. You’ll act as a key point of contact for alumnae groups across Aotearoa and help ensure former members and volunteers stay connected to Guiding in meaningful ways.
You will also chair the volunteer Alumnae Committee and support engagement across groups such as Trefoil Guild and National Guiding Friends, helping create inclusive opportunities for connection, contribution, and fundraising.
