GIRL2020 – USA

December 12 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

From October 22 to 25, 2020, in Orlando, Florida, Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) will host A Global Roundtable: The Power of All-Girl Spaces. The purpose of the event is to address questions such as what does it mean to be a girl-only organisation in our world today? How can we as a global movement ensure that the benefits we offer girls—benefits that support their healthy development and resiliency—are understood and emphasized beyond our own organizations?

Girl Scouts of the USA has invited GirlGuiding NZ to participate and we are seeking two girls ages 14–18 to attend. The girls will be accompanied by two GirlGuiding personnel. Flights, accommodation and registration are funded, but you will need funds for incidentals and spending money.

You will need to meet the following criteria to apply:

  • Between the ages of 14 and 18 (delegates should be 14 by 1 June 2020)
  • Actively engaged in GirlGuiding New Zealand
  • Able to share your opinions with adults and peers
  • Experienced or interested in international Girl Scouting/Girl Guiding
  • Able to understand and speak English
  • Able to support the implementation of focus groups and surveys among peers and younger girls within GirlGuiding New Zealand
  • Able to commit to supporting the Global Compact and action plan for at least one year
  • Open to new challenges

If you wish to be considered for this opportunity, please complete the application form here (link to application form for international events that is on the website) by 15 January 2020.

Applications are also open now for the following international opportunities. Closing date for these three events is 31 January 2020.
