DESCRIPTION:Entries for the Wander Women Adventure Race in Tauranga are now open. \nThe Wander Women Adventure Race is created by women for women. It is a beginner-friendly race designed to empower women.  It is about accepting the challenge and then going out there and doing it. Most importantly it is about having that well-needed girl’s weekend away in a beautiful location. \nThe race will consist of 2 disciplines\, running or trekking and mountain biking over a 3 or 6-hour course. There will also be some fun and exciting mystery activities. \nThis is a navigational race in teams of four\, based on points. The team who gets the most amount of points in the fastest time wins. The idea is to complete the whole course to gain maximum points. \n“It’s really about empowering women and taking time for yourselves in an increasingly hectic world.  It’s having a fantastic weekend away with friends and forgetting about everything that needs to be done back in your everyday world.” \nAfter crossing the finish line\, Wander Women will meet a celebratory atmosphere\, with wine\, food stalls and live music – after all\, it is also about BALANCE. \nCheck it out on Facebook and at www.wanderwomen.co.nz \nAge \nThe Wander Women Race Team will consist of 4 fabulous women. You must be 13 years or older on race day. DESCRIPTION:Time: 9am Saturday 17 October 2020 \nSo\, you’re tough\, but are you tough enough to take on the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge? \nIf you want to get down and dirty and have a whole lot of fun\, then these unique off-road walking and running events are for you. Challenge yourself on a course that includes swamp crossings\, a spider’s web net climb\, crawl under barb wire\, beautiful native bush trails\, tunnels\, hurdles\, a climbing frame\, and not to mention\, mud mud and more mud! \nCelebrate Level One and grab your friends\, units\, workmates or family together for a truly amazing experience!  Tough Guy & Gal is New Zealand’s original mud run series with events across the whole North Island including Wellington\, Auckland and Rotorua. \nThe Loaded Tough Guy & Gal Challenge is open to all individuals over the age of 13 years old. Everyone is an individual entry and it is about coming along and competing as a group and dressing up together. The Outdoor Essentials training is part of the Leadership Qualification. \nVolunteers who do not have their Leadership Qualification will need to complete the Outdoor Essentials Training. Outdoor Essentials covers basic outdoor skills\, such as a practical hands-on session using a gas cooker safely\, outdoor cooking and activities to do in the outdoors. DESCRIPTION:To make sure our volunteers are equipped with all the skills they need to lead girls in outdoor adventures safely\, we provide this two-say training opportunity to new volunteers who want to obtain their Leader Qualification (LQ)\, or to volunteers who have been with GirlGuiding for over two years and want to refresh their outdoor essentials knowledge. \nThis weekend training offers a number of training opportunities\, including the Outdoor Essentials module for those that need to complete their LQ Leader of Girls Qualification\, along with Outdoor Cooking and Day Walk modules. \nFor those interested in attending Camp training modules\, the following modules will be offered: Taking Girls Away Overnight\, Outdoor Camp and Lightweight Camp. Please note that you must have completed or nearly finished your LQ before attending camp training modules. The camp training modules run on Saturday and finish at lunchtime Sunday. \nInvitations for trainings in your area will be sent out via OGM. We aim to send these invitations out 6 weeks prior to the training date. DESCRIPTION:To make sure our volunteers are equipped with all the skills they need to lead girls in outdoor adventures safely\, we provide this two-say training opportunity to new volunteers who want to obtain their Leader Qualification\, or to volunteers who have been with GirlGuiding for over two years and want to refresh their outdoor essentials knowledge.\nThis training will happen on a weekend and will cover the Outdoor Essentials on Saturday\, and the Camp Training on Sunday. \nDay One: Outdoor Essentials\nVolunteers who do not have their Leader Qualification will need to complete the Outdoor Essentials Training. This will give them the basics to follow through to the Camp Training the next day.\nOutdoor Essentials covers basic outdoor skills\, such as a practical hands-on session using a gas cooker safely\, outdoor cooking and activities to do in the outdoors. It will also cover how to run safe and fun outdoor programmes. \nDay Two: Camp Training\nVolunteers who have their Leader Qualification will need to complete the Camp Training to be able to take groups of girls camping.\nThe Camp Training covers the following modules: \nTaking Girls Away Overnight – The first of a series of modules to take your girls camping. After completing this module a Leader can take girls to an overnight event organised by another provider. After an indoor camp assessment\, the Leader can run their own indoor camps.\nOutdoor Camp Certificate – Completing this overnight module will give you the skills to take your girls camping in tents. After assisting an approved experienced Leader to plan and run a camp you will then plan and run an assessment camp for your girls. Note: A separate kit list will be forwarded closer to the training by the trainers. This is a practical training and trainees will be sleeping in tents and are expected to take part in all activities.\nLightweight Skills (for Lightweight Camp Certificate) – This module covers additional skills if you wish to take your girls lightweight camping\, where all equipment is backpacked to the site.\nInvitations for training happening around New Zealand will be sent via OGM. DESCRIPTION:Time: 9am Sunday 20 September \nSo\, you’re tough\, but are you tough enough to take on the Tough Gal Team Challenge? \nIf you want to get down and dirty and have a whole lot of fun\, then these unique off-road walking and running events are for you. Challenge yourself and two of your girlfriends on a course that includes swamp crossings\, a spider’s web net climb\, crawl under barb wire\, beautiful native bush trails\, tunnels\, hurdles\, a climbing frame\, and not to mention\, mud mud and more mud! \nThis event is tailored specifically for teams of 3 to take on a 6km course full of man-made and natural obstacles – competing\, conquering and finishing together. This is a women’s only event designed for ladies of all ages to get together\, dress up in fancy dress and enjoy a fun day out in the mud. DESCRIPTION:To make sure our volunteers are equipped with all the skills they need to lead girls in outdoor adventures safely\, we provide this two-say training opportunity to new volunteers who want to obtain their Leader Qualification (LQ)\, or to volunteers who have been with GirlGuiding for over two years and want to refresh their outdoor essentials knowledge. \nThis weekend training offers a number of training opportunities\, including the Outdoor Essentials module for those that need to complete their LQ Leader of Girls Qualification\, along with Outdoor Cooking and Day Walk modules. \nFor those interested in attending Camp training modules\, the following modules will be offered: Taking Girls Away Overnight\, Outdoor Camp and Lightweight Camp. Please note that you must have completed or nearly finished your LQ before attending camp training modules. The camp training modules run on Saturday and finish at lunchtime Sunday. \nInvitations for trainings in your area will be sent out via OGM. We aim to send these invitations out 6 weeks prior to the training date. Outdoor Essentials covers basic outdoor skills\, such as a practical hands-on session using a gas cooker safely\, outdoor cooking and activities to do in the outdoors. It will also cover how to run safe and fun outdoor programmes.\nThe other modules covered include: Games with a Purpose\, Wide Games\, Camp Fire Songs and Activities\, Burma Trails & Activities\, Rope & Poles\, Night Games\, Parks & Trails\, Outdoor Cooking.
