DESCRIPTION:This Discovery event is a combination of two Ranger adventures originally meant for Journey 2022 – River Riders and Waitomo Blackout.  \nAs a part of this week\, you will have fun on the water by participating in Whitewater Rafting and River Crossings as well as some excitement on land by undertaking a Luge Ride and Go-Carting. There will also be some fun activities to complete at the campsite in the downtime. For the luge there is a minimum height of 1.1m\, please don’t accept the invite if your child won’t meet this height requirement or she will miss out on partaking in this activity. You will be camping in tents and helping with preparing your own meals. As per the original Ranger adventures\, there will be a requirement to bring a lightweight tent and/or a gas cooker and billy. \nPlease note: We have been advised by the providers who are helping to make this event possible that a condition of participation is for those aged 12+ to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19. DESCRIPTION:The Abel Tasman Tramping Discovery is an opportunity for Rangers aged 12 ½ and over (but under 18 as of 1 May 2021) to tramp and explore the stunning golden beaches and native forest along the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. This is one of New Zealand’s Great Walks situated at the top of the South Island about one hour from Nelson. A reasonable level of fitness is needed. The Discovery will start and finish in Nelson. \n  \nCost: $500 – You will be invoiced a $150 deposit as soon as you complete your registration on OGM. This must be paid within 7 days to confirm your place on the tramp. The final $350 will need to be paid before 25 February 2021. DESCRIPTION:2021 – A SPACE ODYSSEY \nApril 10 – 11\, 2021 | Camp Elsdon\, 18 Raiha Street\, Porirua \n  \nCRITERIA: \n\nRangers who have achieved their Peak Award and who are aged 16 years at the time of the retreat are invited to apply for the upcoming Queen’s Guide Retreat.\nParticipants take part in a variety of challenging and fun learning activities to extend their skills and knowledge in relation to team building\, community action\, self-evaluation\, Queen’s Guide Award recognition and joining networks.\n\nHOW TO APPLY: \nThere are a maximum number of places for each Queen’s Guide Retreat. The Programme Adviser will approve who is selected to attend. Once accepted you will be sent an invite through OGM to the event.\nPriority is usually given to the older Rangers and/or Rangers who live closer to the location. We will advise those not selected and place their name on a waiting list. \nFull-time attendance is a requirement. \nCOST: \nThere is a cost of $150 per girl (including GST) to attend the Queen’s Guide Retreat.
