SUMMARY:You're invited to Journey 2022 - A West Coast Adventure!
DESCRIPTION:This Discovery event is an opportunity for Guides and Rangers to still experience an amazing event in lieu of Jamboree being cancelled. \nAs a part of this week\, you will be travelling from Hokitika after the first night where we will set up camp at Franz Josef. From here\, we will have an action-packed week where you will be walking into both Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier. There will also be other walks to be done as well as exploring some of the wonderful towns and attractions along the way. You will be required to be reasonably fit and able to walk a few hours each day. Alongside this\, there will also be some fun activities to complete at the campsite in the downtime. You will be camping in tents and helping with preparing your own meals. As per the original Ranger adventures\, there will be a requirement to bring a lightweight tent and/or a gas cooker and billy. \nPlease note: We have been advised by the providers who are helping to make this event possible that a condition of participation is for those aged 12+ to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19. In accepting this invite you are confirming that you can provide evidence of vaccination \n\nDate: 9 – 13 January 2022\nDrop off location and time: 9 January 2022\, 12 pm – Hokitika Holiday Park\, 11 Providence Drive\, Hokitika\nPickup location and time: 13 January 2022\, 12 pm – Hokitika Visitors Centre/I-Site\, corner of Weld St and Railway Terrace\, Hokitika\nFee: $500 payable by 30 November 2021\n\nFAQs \n\nWho is invited to attend? \n\nAll Guides and Rangers who were originally attending Jamboree are invited to attend first. If there are further places available then these will be offered to additional Guides and Rangers. There are limited places and we can’t guarantee your spot so we do recommend registering as soon as possible. \n\nWhat does the fee cover? \n\nThe fee covers all accommodation\, food and activity costs for the five days that your Ranger is in attendance. It also covers travel during the week\, but not on the first and last days into Hokitika. \n\nIs travel to and from Hokitika arranged for me? \n\nNo\, all travel to and from Hokitika prior to and at the end of the camp is to be arranged and paid for yourself. We can put parents in touch with one another to arrange to carpool if necessary. If your daughter is flying into Hokitika Airport then we can arrange for a leader to pick her up and drop her back at the end. DESCRIPTION:This Discovery event is a combination of two Ranger adventures originally meant for Journey 2022 – River Riders and Waitomo Blackout.  \nAs a part of this week\, you will have fun on the water by participating in Whitewater Rafting and River Crossings as well as some excitement on land by undertaking a Luge Ride and Go-Carting. There will also be some fun activities to complete at the campsite in the downtime. For the luge there is a minimum height of 1.1m\, please don’t accept the invite if your child won’t meet this height requirement or she will miss out on partaking in this activity. You will be camping in tents and helping with preparing your own meals.
